Pros and Cons of Google’s Address Validation API
As a global company with some of the best engineering talent, it’s no surprise that Google has a good address validation API. It offers global coverage through a single API and includes RDI (Residential Delivery Indicator) for several countries.
Unfortunately, it’s rate limited to 100 queries per second. This makes it slow to use for high-capacity address validation like that needed for data blending, enrichment, cleansing, and analysis.
Another significant limitation is that the google address verification api doesn’t offer a way to store addresses. If you verify an address with it, the end user must confirm it, or the verification will be lost after 30 days. That’s a major pain point, especially for online forms where users must repeat themselves.
